Best Golf Simulator Company in the UK: Why Golf Sim Rooms Leads the Market

The best golf simulator company for you is one that builds the room as well as fitting the kit, can show you finished rooms like the one you want, and has reviews you can read in full on an independent site. Those three checks rule out most of the market before price comes into it.

We are Golf Sim Rooms (GSR), and we have installed more than 1,000 golf simulators across the UK, in garden rooms, log cabins, garages and rooms inside the house. Below is how to compare companies, followed by how we measure up, with the evidence linked so you can check it for yourself.

The three kinds of golf simulator company

Most companies selling home golf simulators in the UK fall into one of three groups. Knowing which one you are talking to tells you a lot about the room you will end up with.

Hardware sellers who also install

Their business is selling launch monitors, screens and enclosures. Installation is an extra, so it tends to be quick and basic, and getting the room ready is left to you.

Garden room companies that add a simulator

They can put up a sound building, but the simulator is an add-on. Ceiling height, lighting and where the launch monitor sits are often settled after the building is designed, which is when they are hardest to change.

Golf simulator specialists

In our experience this is the smallest group, and it is the one we belong to. A specialist plans the room around the swing and the technology from the first visit, then builds the room and fits the simulator as one job.

What to check before you choose

Whichever company you speak to, these questions sort the specialists from the rest.

  • Can they show you finished rooms like yours, with their sizes? Photos of real builds tell you more than drawings.
  • Who builds the room? Ask whether their own team does the building and the fit-out, and who runs any other trades the job needs, such as plumbing.
  • Do they measure the ceiling where you will stand to hit? A full swing with a driver needs at least 2.7m of clear height, and height rules out more rooms than anything else.
  • Which launch monitor do they suggest for your room, and why? Camera and radar launch monitors need different amounts of space.
  • What happens at handover? You want the system calibrated, a walk through how to use it, and someone to call afterwards.
  • Are the reviews independent? A Trustpilot or Google profile you can read in full counts for more than quotes on the company’s own website.
  • Is the company registered? Companies House shows any UK limited company’s number, address and status for free.

It also pays to ask a few more questions before you book, and to check exactly what comes with an installation before you compare prices. One quote may include the screen, mat, enclosure, lighting and software set-up while another leaves some of them out.

How we design and build a golf simulator room

Every project starts with a free consultation, at your home or online, where we look at the space and talk through how you want to use it. On our Stockton-on-Tees garage build the home visit came within four days of the first call. We then design the room, with the screen, hitting area, launch monitor and projector placed before anything is built.

On site, our own team does the building and the fit-out. A typical installation strips the room back, corrects the walls and floor, treats the space for sound and moves the lighting so it cannot interfere with a camera or radar unit. The screen, turf, projector and launch monitor then go in at measured distances.

Before handover we tune the projector, calibrate the launch monitor and test the room with every club from driver to wedge. After it, we stay on the end of the phone. Our Sheffield customer sent us questions on WhatsApp in the first few weeks, and we video called back to talk them through each one.

Where a job needs other trades, we bring them in and run them. Our Essex garden room combines a golf simulator with a gym and a kitchen, and the build meant bringing in plumbers for a new toilet and working alongside the customer’s landscaper.

Timings depend on the room. A fit-out of a ready space usually takes 3 to 5 working days, and a full log cabin build takes 2 to 3 weeks from groundwork to handover.

The rooms we build

We build five kinds of golf simulator room, and the right one depends on the space you have.

The launch monitors we install

We are an authorised Trackman dealer, and we also install systems from Foresight Sports, SkyTrak, FlightScope and Uneekor. The right one depends on your room as much as your budget. A camera unit sits beside the ball or on the ceiling above it, while a radar unit sits behind the golfer and needs more depth. Trackman recommends 5.5m between the screen and its Trackman 4 unit, so we choose the launch monitor and the room layout together.

Evidence you can check

Any company can call itself the best, so here is what you can look up for yourself.

Here is what three customers wrote about us, word for word.

“The initial consultation was thorough and set out the various options available to us, with no hard sell.” (IAIN MCCARTHY, on Trustpilot)

“Seeing works already completed made up my mind about engaging GSR. The planning and meetings were second to none and upon installation had a great team involved with the job.” (Ken Powell, on Trustpilot)

“From start to finish all the Team from the office, building, fit out and tech support were fantastic.” (Richard R, on Trustpilot)

When another company may suit you better

A specialist is not always the right call. If your garage already has the height and you only want a launch monitor, a net and a mat that you are happy to set up yourself, a hardware retailer will cost you less. If you have a finished room and only need the kit fitted, ask for a fit-out quote rather than a full build. And if the space fails on height, no company can make a full driver swing fit without building work, so measure before you spend anything.

Conclusion

The best golf simulator company is the one that can show you rooms like yours, build and fit the whole thing, and point you to reviews you can read in full. If you would like to know whether your space works, Golf Sim Rooms will look at your measurements and tell you which kind of room fits. Book a free consultation to get started.
