In 2026, a home golf simulator in the UK costs anywhere from around £2,000 for a basic enclosure kit with an entry level launch monitor to well over £100,000 for a high specification garden room built around a TrackMan. For a complete, professionally installed room, our figures from this year’s projects are £18,000 to £55,000 for a garage fit out with a solid mid range setup, from around £30,000 for a purpose built log cabin with full fit out, and £50,000 to £150,000 for a higher specification garden room.
The wide range comes down to three things, the launch monitor, the room the simulator goes into, and everything that makes the room usable all year, such as insulation, heating, lighting and electrics. On top of that sit annual software subscriptions, which many buyers forget. Below we break down each cost using current UK prices and our own project data, so you can see where the money actually goes.
The three layers of golf simulator cost
Every simulator budget is made up of the same three layers.
- The technology. Launch monitor, projector, impact screen, enclosure, hitting mat, PC and software.
- The room. A garage conversion, a log cabin, a garden room or an existing space, along with insulation, flooring, acoustics and finish.
- The services. Electrics, heating, lighting, cabling and installation.
Most online cost guides only cover the first layer. In our experience, the second and third layers are where the real difference between a room that gets used and one that sits empty lies. Across our installations, the structural shell typically accounts for around 55% of total project cost.
Launch monitor prices in 2026
The launch monitor is the biggest single equipment decision. These are listed prices at GolfBays, a UK retailer, in October 2026. Retail prices change regularly and many are shown as reduced, so treat them as a guide.
| Launch monitor | Technology | Listed UK price |
|---|---|---|
| Garmin Approach R10 | Radar | £421 |
| Rapsodo MLM2PRO | Camera and radar | £549 |
| Square Golf | Camera | £689 |
| SkyTrak+ | Camera and radar | £1,295 |
| Uneekor EYE MINI LITE | Camera | £1,999 |
| Bushnell Launch Pro | Camera | £2,790 |
| Uneekor QED | Camera, overhead | £6,360 |
| Foresight GC3 | Camera | £7,500 |
| TrackMan iO Home | Radar and camera, overhead | £12,594 |
| Foresight GCQuad | Camera | £16,788 |
| TrackMan 4 | Radar and camera | £22,434 |
Price is not the only factor. Some units need a certain ceiling height or room depth, some need special balls for accurate spin indoors, and some limit which software you can run. We always match the launch monitor to the room and the golfer rather than to the biggest budget. As a TrackMan authorised dealer, we have still advised a client with a 28 handicap against buying TrackMan, because his game simply did not need it.
Screens, enclosures, mats and projectors
The rest of the hardware adds up quickly. Again using current GolfBays listings as a guide, these are typical prices.
- Impact screens range from around £180 for a basic screen to £915 for a premium 4K screen.
- Enclosures run from £999 for a simple frame to over £4,000 for a retractable system.
- Hitting mats start under £200, with a TrueStrike Mk7 listed at £582.
- Short throw projectors suited to simulators run from around £900 to almost £5,000 for high end 4K models.
The hitting mat is the one we would never cut. We’ve seen clients spend significant money on a launch monitor and then buy a cheap mat to save a few hundred pounds. A thin, hard mat jars the wrists, flatters poor strikes and can affect launch monitor readings.
For comparison, GolfBays lists complete enclosure bundles from £1,910 with a Garmin R10, £9,050 with a Foresight GC3 and £14,050 with a TrackMan iO. These bundles typically exclude the projector, PC and installation, and they assume you already have a suitable, warm, well lit room.
Software subscriptions
Simulator software is usually an annual cost, not a one off purchase, and it is easy to leave out of a budget.
- GSPro costs US$250 a year.
- TrackMan iO subscriptions are US$700 a year for Home and US$1,100 for Home Complete.
- Bushnell’s FSX software is listed at £199 a year for Silver and £499 for Gold.
- Awesome Golf costs £149.99 a year, or £349.99 for a lifetime licence.
Most leading platforms also need a Windows gaming PC with a capable graphics card, which is another line in the budget.
What the room costs
This is where budgets vary most. Our minimum room size is 3m wide by 4.5m deep by 2.7m high, and our recommended comfortable size is 3.5m by 5m by 2.9m. That works out at roughly 13.5 to 17.5 square metres of floor space.
Garage conversions. Usually the most affordable route if the garage has enough height and depth. Most garages need insulation, flooring, lighting and power upgrades. Our garage conversions typically sit between £18,000 and £55,000 with a solid mid range setup.
Log cabins. A purpose built log cabin with full fit out starts from around £30,000. Cabins are designed around the swing from day one, and around 8 in 10 of our log cabin builds go ahead without a formal planning application.
Garden rooms. Bespoke garden rooms at a higher specification tend to fall between £50,000 and £150,000 including the simulator. For context, MyBuilder’s 2026 cost guide puts garden rooms in general at £1,200 to £2,500 per square metre, before any simulator equipment.
The costs people forget
Electrics. A simulator room runs a projector, PC, launch monitor, lighting and heating. MyBuilder puts power to a garden room at £800 to £1,500 for a basic setup and £2,000 to £3,000 for a fully wired room with multiple circuits, lighting and a consumer unit. Installing a new circuit is notifiable work under the Building Regulations, as the Planning Portal explains, so it needs a registered electrician.
Insulation and acoustics. From working with clients on garage retrofits, we’ve found that adding insulation and acoustic panels after the fact costs around 40% more than building them in from the start.
Heating. An unheated room in a UK winter does not get used. Budget for infrared panels or another suitable heat source, plus controls.
Lighting. Bright, even light for the launch monitor, but no glare on the screen. Getting both usually means separate lighting circuits.
Ceiling height. Roughly 1 in 4 of our customers initially underestimate the height they need for a driver. Fixing that after purchase, by lowering a floor or raising a roof, is far more expensive than measuring first.
Our post on what comes with a golf simulator installation lists everything a complete quote should include.
Where to spend and where to save
In our experience, putting more of the budget into the room works better than spending it all on the launch monitor because ceiling height, warmth and convenience decide how often the simulator gets used, and a top end unit in a cold, cramped garage gets used less than a mid range unit in a comfortable room.
From working with clients, the most common trade offs that make sense are these.
- Choose a mid range camera unit such as SkyTrak+ or Uneekor and put the difference into insulation and heating.
- Build insulation, acoustics and cable routes in from the start rather than adding them later.
- Spend properly on the mat and the screen, which you feel and see every session.
- Pick software you will actually use, and check its annual cost before you buy the hardware.
If you are still deciding whether the investment makes sense, our post on whether a home golf simulator is worth it looks at who gets the most from one.

Getting an accurate price for your space
A golf simulator in 2026 costs whatever your room, your game and your expectations need it to. The cheapest route is a kit in an existing space, while a dedicated, comfortable room that gets used all year usually sits in the tens of thousands. The best way to avoid overspending is to measure the space properly and plan the room and technology together.
With more than 1,000 installations completed, Golf Sim Rooms can tell you what your space can realistically hold and what it will cost. Contact us to book a consultation and receive a fully itemised quote.
